There are once again new sounds emerging from northern Brittany. Dark electronics like a cold wave at Plage du Sillon in November. Goosebumps in an icy bath. On Lamm-Trais, too, arpeggios, synth textures, drum machines and French-Breton vocals coalesce into everything we value about Mode In Gliany. While Side A is more expansively arranged, featuring, among other things, a beautifully wavey chorus guitar, Side B is very minimally electronic – in the best possible sense. The few but perfectly chosen notes and the simple yet effective beat give these pieces their direction and prove just as captivating – albeit in a very different way from the pieces on Side A.
